About Brigit™1230

Brigit™1230 is a pre-engineered extinguishing system which utilizes FK5112 Fire Protection Fluid (chemically known as FLUOROKETONE, Perfluoro(2-Methyl-3-Pentanone)

The system is in accordance with international standards and is designed to provide gaseous fire extinguishing in situations where conventional extinguishing agents such as water, dry chemical, and carbon dioxide are unsuitable. It is a 2nd generation clean agent and the latest environmentally acceptable replacement for Halon 1301. Brigit™1230 is safe for use in applications were people are normally present for both Class-A and Class-B fire risks. The system is typically used for the protection of valuable/critical assets (usually electronics), the loss of which would not only be the value of the equipment, but also the cost of business interruption. FK5112 (as a clean agent) leaves no residue after discharge, is electrically non-conductive, and is colourless and odourless. Fixed systems and components are designed to completely flood the protected area (enclosed space) in accordance with international standards (ISO 14520).

Design concentration may vary from 5.6% to 7%, depending on the classification of the fire risk. Note that the room integrity should be verified, thus ensuring that the extinguishing agent will protect all equipment/assets for at least 10 minutes after discharge. The NOAEL & LOAEL limits for FK5112 are 10% so the majority of designed systems are well in the safety margins and this makes FK5112 one of the safest agents to use in manned areas.

FK5112 Storage Cylinder

The agent storage cylinder is fitted with the appropriate valve, gauge and dip tube. FK5112 fluid is stored as a liquid super pressurized with dry nitrogen to 25 BAR (at 25ºC) and is completely discharged within 10 seconds into the protected area as a vapour. Cylinders can be refilled on
site, thus minimizing downtime after a discharge. Storage Cylinders are available in various capacities depending on hazard requirements and are provided with nameplates for handling, operation and maintenance instructions, identifying agent weight, tare weight and gross weight.
